Commemoration of the Birthday of His Holiness the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa

In light of the coronavirus outbreak, to protect the well-being and safety of everyone, 
Palpung Thubten Choling Monastery remains closed to the public.

To commemorate the birthday of His Holiness the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa, we will create merit and auspiciousness by offering 1,000 butterlamps, bowls of saffron water, bowls filled with rice, incense and flowers, and chant prayers of auspiciousness for His Holiness’ long healthy life and freedom from obstacles. A traditional Body Speech & Mind ceremony (Ku Sung Tuk) will be included, along with the customary tea and ceremonial rice offering. Lunch (including a birthday cake!) will be dedicated to His Holiness as he turns 35 this Saturday.

You can help sponsor any of the above offerings for His Holiness’ long life and continued enlightened activity which is said to benefit all limitless beings purely and spontaneously. Please email a prayer for your family or friends to prayers@kagyu.com, which will be read aloud to the assembly. Being a sponsor creates an auspicious connection between the Gyalwang Karmapa and whomever you choose to dedicate your offering.
