Chanting of Chenrezig Practice For Victims of Gun Violence

Chanting of Chenrezig Practice For Victims of Gun Violence

Date: Sat, Nov 18, 2017 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Duration: 1 Hour

We originally scheduled this event in response to the Las Vegas shooting that took place October 1, 2017. Unfortunately, several other mass shootings have occurred since then, so we will be praying for all victims of gun violence. November 18 is the 49th day of the Bardo for the Las Vegas victims, which is generally considered the final day before beings are reborn into their next life.  We will be praying that all victims quickly attain enlightenment and that their families be free from suffering.

Our root lama, Dorje Chang Kalu Rinpoche, emphasized the practice of Chenrezig for his students. In his own words, “Chenrezig represents the union of love and compassion of all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Meditation on Chenrezig develops that love and compassion in practitioners, thus leading to the realization of emptiness, the ultimate nature.”

The event is free of charge, and the liturgy is translated as well as written phonetically. You can chant along, or silently read the translation. Chanting will take place in the Maitreya Shrine Hall.

Reservations (1 week in advance) are required if you plan to join us for meals and/or need overnight accommodations.  Please see General Information about Events at KTC. Please send an email to if you are joining us for meals only.
