The KTC sangha is pleased to welcome Venerable Chungpo Gyalton Rinpoche, a tulku from Sherabling who will be touring North America in June. Rinpoche will be teaching on several topics as well as bestowing refuge and the Chenrezig empowerment.

Gyalton Rinpoche was recognized in 1983 by Kenting Tai Situpa as an incarnation of the previous Gyalton Rinpoche, the religious head of Chungpo Monastery in Kham and a student of the previous Karmapa and Situ Rinpoche.  The previous Gyalton Rinpoche had been one of the present Tai Situpa's teachers, along with Thrangu Rinopoche, Kalu Rinpoche and the previous Sangye Nyenpa Rinpoche.

In the year 1989 the young Rinpoche came to Palpung Sherab Ling and remained under the guidance of the 12th Kenting Tai Situpa and other gurus such as the Very Venerable Salshey Rinpoche for about two years. He also attended English medium schools for about ten years and studied science and different languages such as English, Hindi and Nepali.

In February 2002, he once again returned to Palpung Sherab Ling to undergo higher Buddhist studies of ritual, philosophy, lama dance and music.  For the past four years, he has been the Vajra Master of Palpung Sherab Ling and has has travelled to different parts of India and  Bhutan as the representative of His Eminence the 12th Kenting Tai Situpa.

The meaning of the vajrayana methods of creation and and completion stages based on the Chenrezig Sadhana.  Dorje Chang Kalu Rinpoche, emphasized the practice of Chenrezig for his western students. In his own words, "Chenrezig represents the union of love and compassion of all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Meditation on Chenrezig develops that love and compassion in practitioners, thus leading to the realization of emptiness, the ultimate nature."


Fee per session: $25 Non-members | $20 Members
Fees do not include charges for meals or accommodations.  Please arrive 20 minutes early to allow for registration.
